The Ohio University Lancaster campus is using a grant to teach students about the misconceptions, realities and dangers of prescription drug abuse.

The Lancaster campus was one of seven universities to win a grant of up to $2,500 to be used to increase awareness of prescription drug use.

The campus installed six television monitors inside Brasee Hall with the grant money. The TVs will display messages about prescription drug abuse as well as campus announcements and information.

“One of the goals of the initiative is to educate the Lancaster and Fairfield County community on the use and misuse of prescription drugs,” OUL Enrollment Manager Pat Fox said in a release Thursday. “As an institution of higher education, it’s only appropriate that Ohio University Lancaster plays a role in this project.”
