Ohio State Men’s Basketball Announces Non-Conference Portion Of Schedule

The Ohio State men’s basketball team announced the non-conference portion of the 2013-14 schedule Monday, and the team will open its season Nov. 9 against Morgan State in Columbus.

Notable non-league games include a home game against future Big Ten foe Maryland on Dec. 4, a home game against Ohio University Nov. 12 as well as a neutral site game with Notre Dame Dec. 21 at Madison Square Garden in New York City as part of the 2013 Gotham Classic.

Thad Matta, entering his 10th season as head coach of the Buckeyes, will also lead the team on a road game at Marquette on Nov. 16. The game opens a home-and-home series with the Golden Eagles, who will travel to Columbus in 2014-15.

The two teams were scheduled to open last season in the 2013 Carrier Classic on the deck of the USS Yorktown, but the game was canceled due to condensation on the court making the court unplayable.

The game against Ohio University will be the 22nd time the two programs have met, with OSU holding a 17-4 advantage.

The Buckeyes will play four Big Ten teams only once this season. OSU will travel to Wisconsin and Indiana during the 2013-14 season, and will also play host to both Michigan and Northwestern in single plays.

Upon the announcement of the Big Ten conference schedule, the last non-conference date will be finalized. The Buckeyes will play Louisiana-Monroe either Dec. 27 or 28.
