A funeral service is planned for an Ohio native who was killed while serving as a sheriff's deputy in Missouri.
Christopher Parsons, who lived most of his life in Columbus and Athens, was fatally shot last weekend while working for the Washington County Sheriff's Office in Potosi, Mo. The 31-year-old joined the agency just two months ago.
Reports said Parsons was helping put an unconscious woman in an ambulance when her son came out of a mobile home and fired a rifle, striking the deputy. The man is now charged with murder.
The Columbus Dispatch (http://bit.ly/YsTkeP ) reports that a service for the 2007 Ohio University graduate is planned for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Community Church in Columbus.
