Ohio Man, 77, Pleads Not Guilty To Weapons Charges
A 77-year-old western Ohio man has pleaded not guilty to federal charges of selling guns without a license after agents seized 257 weapons — including an unregistered machine gun and sawed-off shotgun.
The Dayton Daily News reports that William E. Coe of Conover in Miami County is facing three felony counts. The retired plumber entered the pleas Monday in federal court in Dayton Monday and was released with his promise to return to court for an April 15 trial.
A six-page list of weapons seized attached to the federal indictment includes shotguns, rifles, handguns, revolvers, pistols and the machine gun. Some have unknown origins while others lack serial numbers.
Prosecutors, who declined to discuss further details of the case, said the maximum sentence for the charges is 25 years.
