An Ohio National Guardsman from Union County will be brought back from overseas to face rape charges.

Major Jean Paul Kruse is charged with 17 counts, including five for rape, for offenses involving three children that were in his home.

He was recently deployed with his unit to Kuwait. The Ohio National Guard is now working to bring Kruse back.

"We are aware of the civilian criminal charges against Maj. Jean Paul Kruse. Because of the on-going civilian investigation, any comment would be inappropriate at this time.  MAJ Kruse has been released from theater and sent back to the U.S," read a statement from the Ohio National Guard.

Investigators say Kruse sexually abused three of the 11 children in his care between 2006 and 2012. His arraignment is scheduled for Aug. 1.

His wife Emily is facing three charges, two for intimidation and one for obstruction of justice. Children's services removed all the children from their home last August.
