Officers Uncover Nearly 50 Stolen Guns At Storage Facility
Police are searching for those responsible for stealing 48 weapons from local homes.
Blendon Township Police said that they uncovered the weapons at a storage facility on Morse Road.
Forty-eight shotguns, rifles and handguns were found, along with stolen video games, DVDs and other electronics at the S & M Rent-A-Space.
“The burglars were taking whatever kinds of guns they found in the homes,” said Blendon Township Police chief John Belford.
Detectives said that a home in Delaware County was one of three struck by the burglars. Some of the guns stolen from the home could be considered collectables.
“It appears that some of the guns were very old,” Belford said.
According to the search warrant for the storage facility, police also confiscated TVs.
“Some flat-screen TVs and other items, many of while have been tracked back to local area burglaries,” Belford said.
Belford said that he was happy to have the stolen guns off the street.
“There’s a heightened concern that it could be used for another crime or to hurt somebody,” Belford said.
Police said that they would continue to investigate.
According to Belford, police have identified a person of interest in the case but would not release that person’s name because charges have not been filed.
