Newark Police Apologizes For Suffering Deer
The Newark Police chief is apologizing for allowing a deer to suffer for days after it was struck by a car.
Someone hit a deer last Sunday, and the deer suffered two broken legs.
But because Granville and Newark disputed where the deer lay injured, no one put the deer down.
It took three says for the deer to die from its injuries.
Newark Police chief Steven J. Sarver issued a statement to the Newark Advocate apologizing for the confusion and allowing the deer to suffer.
“I am sincerely sorry that our community had to deal with this and we will learn from it,” he said.
