Tuesday was move in day for a new Columbus health center that will offer specialized care to people who might otherwise not get it.

The 21,000 square foot state of the art medical facility is located at 1905 Parsons Ave., the site of a former Schottenstein's department store.

Nearly 20 patients were seen in the facility which is being leased to Columbus Neighborhood Health Centers which also has a partnership with Ohio State.

Doctors say what makes this so unique is the specialty care. There’s a physical therapy room which serves as a rehabilitation center for patients and much more.

"As our numbers grow we'll be adding visiting specialists from OSU, Cardiology, Pulmonary, EMT and a few others, Endocrinology which will really help diabetics," said Dr. Marita Moore.

The facility will also offer behavioral health services as well as a community center which includes Moms-2-Be, a program that focuses on healthy pregnancies and reducing infant mortality.

Half of the patients being treated are not insured but administrators say they have dedicated staff members to help them sign up for federal healthcare.
