Nelsonville-York Teacher Under Investigation Will Retire

A teacher at an elementary school in the Nelsonville-York school district is retiring amid accusations that he assaulted a student.

Anthony Mollica is accused of assault on a 7-year-old student.

Mollica has been on paid administrative leave since the allegations Jan.8.

He faces one count of assault, which carries a six-month jail sentence if convicted. He allegedly struck the child, leaving marks on her side.

Mollica's next court appearance is May 21. His retirement will be effective May 31.
