Columbus Police are working to figure out what caused a car to crash into a north Columbus apartment Thursday morning.

It happened around 2:45 a.m. on Cliffside Drive, near Indianola Avenue.

People inside the building say they were jolted awake when the car crashed through a tree and into the front of their building.

Two people inside the car both told officers they were passengers and the driver had took off running.

They were both taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital with cuts and possibly broken bones, but are expected to be okay.

The fire department came to the scene and determined the building is structurally sound.
