NE Ohio Man May Face Execution In Shooting Of Cousins
An Ohio man convicted of fatally shooting one cousin and injuring another cousin during a home-invasion robbery could face the death penalty.
The same jury that convicted 20-year-old Bryan D. Giles on Tuesday of aggravated murder and other charges in Akron will reconvene on March 11 to decide whether to recommend the death penalty or life in prison.
The Akron Beacon Journal reports that Giles was convicted of fatally shooting his 27-year-old cousin Jarrell Cunningham in the head last February. Another cousin, 21-year-old Terrell Patterson, was shot twice in the head but survived.
Patterson was able to call 911 after the attack and testified last week. Police said Giles confessed less than a week later while being questioned by detectives.
