The National Weather Service confirmed Thursday morning that a tornado touched down Wednesday night in Park Layne, near Dayton.

The storm damaged a gas station and other businesses as it moved through western Ohio Wednesday evening.

The NWS inspected the damage and determined that an EF1 tornado was responsible.

In Dayton, students from Xenia High School were evacuated from a graduation ceremony at Wright State University. The ceremony was eventually canceled due to the severe weather.

In other parts of western Ohio, people had to be rescued as their cars became stranded in high water.
