Multiple Agencies, Departments Decline To Investigate Chillicothe Police Chief

The investigation into actions by the Chillicothe Police Chief continues, but where it will end is up in the air.

Chillicothe Mayor Jack Everson said that he wanted an outside agency to investigate Police Chief Roger Moore after a March 16 incident at a bar. Cell phone video caught an altercation with the chief and another man.

Earlier this week, the Ohio Attorney General's Office declined to investigate. The Buckeye Sheriff's Association has also refused, according to The Chillicothe Gazette.

The Mayor told 10TV that it was now up to the city law director, but the law director said that's not the case.

"The Law Director's Office is responsible for the prosecution of any criminal charge that may be filed in the matter.  No criminal charges are pending at this time, although we are seeking an independent review from an outside source," said Law Director Sherri Rutherford via email.

Rutherford said the chief's supervisor, the Safety Service Director, would be responsible for addressing personnel issues.
