A mother sought answers after a gunman shot her son, paralyzing him.

Police said that Jon Wright and his brother were lured to an apartment complex along Riverdale Square to buy a television on Wednesday. While there, the men were confronted by two robbers.

Wright's brother handed over the money while Wright ran away. The robbers shot him in the back as he fled.

Jon Wright was transported to Grant Medical Center with a bullet lodged in his spinal cord.

His mother, who requested anonymity for fear of her safety, said that her son would never walk again.

"No matter what, I love him," she said." I can't stand what he's going through right now. Seeing my son laying in a bed and knowing he'll never walk again."

Wright's mother said that she hopes someone with information will come forward.

"I just want people to know how heart wrenching this is," she said. "You start out with a normal child and by 6 o'clock in the evening you have a paraplegic."

Police were working to track down the robbers.
