Investigators have returned to a North Columbus apartment complex after suspicious chemicals were found for the second time in two weeks.

The discovery came sometime before 8 a.m. at the Sterling Place Apartments off Bethel Road.

A Columbus Division of Fire spokesman described the findings as "leftover chemicals from a previous incident" reported to the agency last week.

During that incident, fire officials told 10TV that the apartment complex maintenance crews found bottles of unknown chemicals inside an occupied unit in the 5400 block of Winding Way.

A joint terrorism task force and Ohio State University police also responded to that scene. Police questioned one man and said no charges were expected in that case.

Columbus police confirmed their assistance was requested at Sterling Place Apartments by OSU Police Thursday morning.

Columbus firefighters, HAZMAT crews, Columbus Police and OSU Police were all at the scene.
Authorities blocked off a section of the complex parking lot with caution tape during the investigation.

The scene cleared shortly before 10 a.m.
