Missing Canoeist Located After Search

Dive teams were searching for a missing canoeist in South Columbus early Sunday morning.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a missing canoeist near the 6300 block of South High Street shortly before 4:30 a.m.

The Sheriff’s office told 10TV that two people fell into the water when the canoe tipped.

One man made it out of the water and called for help at a nearby Marathon Gas Station.

A dive team and rescue boat were called out to search the Scioto River for the other man in the canoe.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office called the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office to help in the search.

Authorities said the canoeist was found safe around 9 a.m.
