Marion Police Launch Homicide Investigation After Assault Victim Dies Of Injuries

The Marion Police Department is investigating an assault that occurred at a bar on St. Patrick's Day that has now turned fatal.

According to police, Timothy Daso was assaulted in the parking lot of the Town House Bar, located at 199 Davids Street, between 9 and 11 p.m.

Police said that Daso, 64, went home that night without seeking medical treatment.

His sister, who hadn't heard from him, became worried and contacted authorities on Tuesday, March 19.

Daso was found dead in his apartment.

Police said that medics and law enforcement officials said they did not find anything suspicious about his death.

Later, after his body had been taken to a funeral home, his sister told police that she found about that her brother might have been assaulted, and it was found that he had visible trauma to his body.

“We’re looking for people that may have been at the bar at the time and may have in fact seen him out in the parking lot or may have seen him there right after he got assaulted or maybe somebody actually saw him get assaulted and they thought that it wasn’t that significant at the time,” said Maj. Bill Collins of the Marion Police Department.

Police asked anyone with information about the assault or anyone who was at the bar during those hours to call police at 740-387-2525 or the Marion Tips Line at 740-375-8477.
