More laid off police officers will soon be back on the job in Marion.

The city council voted Monday night to reapportion $36,000 to the police department.

The money will be used to recall about half of the officers laid off last year due to budget cuts.

Voters approved an income tax levy in November, allowing the city to restore funding in the police budget.

Marion's mayor says the city plans to recall a total of 7 officers by the end of the year.
