Maria’s Message Bill Advances Through Ohio Statehouse
A bill that would designate September as "Distracted Driving Awareness Month" is one step closer to become law.
Thursday morning, 10TV's Dom Tiberi testified in favor of the bill before members of a house committee. He spoke about his daughter Maria, who was killed in a car accident last September.
The bill will help his mission to educate drivers about the dangers of distracted driving.
"He's already had an impact among students by speaking to the high schools. They're coming up, they're talking to him, (and) they're sharing experiences. It's saving lives probably now. It’s going to save more lives,” said state Sen. Jim Hughes.
The committee approved the bill unanimously. It now goes before the full House for a vote.
