An organized march in honor of a man who passed away in 2006 came to an abrupt end when police said they were forced to intervene.

About 200 people were walking along Lane Aveune near the Ohio State campus Saturday night around 8 p.m.  The group claimed it had a permit to march.

Police said the group needed to be accompanied by a special duty escort, but no officer signed up for this event.

Police said say when some of the marchers refused to get out of the roadway they were forced to use mace to dispurse the crowd.

At least 2 people were arrested.

The organizer of the march told 10TV he believed the group's civil rights was violated.

The march was in memory of Daymon Dodson who passed away in 2006.

The group said they've marched for the past 7 years without any problems until now.
