A Union County man will spend the rest of his life in prison after raping a young child.

Victor Speicher was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison without parole after being convicted in June of raping a child under 10 and gross sexual imposition.

On top of the life charge, Speicher will also serve a consecutive term of 54 months for the gross sexual imposition charge and be forced to register as a Tier III sex offender if he were to get out of prison.

At the sentencing, Speicher said the jury’s verdict was “bullcrap” and the entire event was fabricated, according to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.

He also blamed the child and the child’s family, saying he was “rail-roaded.”

Speicher previously claimed he had an unspecified brain disorder that caused him to be unable to testify before a grand jury or communicate with his attorney, but medical examiners found him competent to stand trial, the attorney’s office stated.

Fraser said Speicher had no remorse for his crime.
