Man Says Thieves Stole His Wallet, Killed Puppy During Attack On Trail

A man told police that a puppy he was walking was killed during a robbery Tuesday morning northeast Columbus.

The man told police that multiple people approached him on the Alum Creek Multi-Use Trail, near the 4500 block of Wingfield Street, around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The people beat him and the 7-week-old puppy and took off with his wallet, according to the report.

The puppy was killed during the attack.

The female owner of the puppy said that the men who beat the man walking the dog had robbed her house three times.

Police continued to search for the thieves.

A medic was dispatched to the location to check injuries.
