Man Escapes Fire That Destroyed Home

Firefighters were investigating an early morning fire at a home in Westerville.

Firefighters said the fire started around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at a home on Allview Road.

The homeowner told firefighters he woke up to the smell of smoke and saw a wall of flames coming from the bedroom area. He was able to get out of the home safely.

Firefighters said the fire was contained to the bedroom in the back of the house.

The Red Cross was called to help the man with a place to stay.
