Man Charged Out Of Incident That Caused New Lexington School Lockdown

New Lexington Police are charging a man following a police situation on Tuesday that prompted a school lockdown.

On Tuesday, a grandfather filed a police report on his grandson, claiming that he assaulted him and made other threats on Center Street.

Police were concerned that the grandson may have had weapons, so local schools were locked down while authorities searched the residence to account for all firearms. None were missing.

Police said the grandson, Austin Keith Brooks, was apprehended near Rosville around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Brooks was charged with domestic violence, aggravated menacing and inducing panic.
