One arrest has been made after an active meth lab was discovered in Marion Thursday afternoon.

Marion Police officials said the meth lab was discovered in the 700 block of North Prospect Street.

Officials said they discovered the meth lab because it was part of an investigation related to a meth lab discovered in Richwood, Ohio, two weeks ago.

Bureau of Criminal Investigation officials were working to clean up the scene.

Rick S. Cook, 40, was arrested and charged with illegal manufacture of methamphetamine and illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for manufacture of methamphetamine.

Marion officials said the meth lab was the second found in the City of Marion in three days.

“These labs are very toxic and very dangerous,” said Major Bill Collins of the Marion Police Department. “I encourage anyone with information about other suspected labs to contact law enforcement immediately.”

Marion police said charges could be filed for another person being questioned.
