Man With 7 Drunken-Driving Convictions Featured As ‘Fugitive Of The Week’

Authorities are searching for John Leslie Marteney, who is wanted in connection with OVI charges.

The Columbus City Attorney’s Office released Marteney’s name as the office’s “Fugitive Of The Week” on Tuesday.

According to the City Attorney’s Office, 53-year-old Marteney was convicted of OVIs in 1982, 1984, 1988, 2000, 2004, 2006 and 2008.

Marteney currently is wanted for failing to appear in court to answer 12 charges brought against him, including OVI, driving under suspension, driving the wrong way down a one-way street and having an open container in a moving vehicle.

He was last stopped in September, when officers said they saw him heading the wrong way on a one-way street. Officers said he had an open can of beer next to his leg on the floorboard and displayed signs of intoxication.

Marteney’s criminal history also includes assault, resisting arrest, soliciting prostitution, criminal trespass, theft, public indecency, disorderly conduct, domestic violence, obstructing official business and menacing, the City Attorney’s Office said.
