According to Fayette County Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, Sturgell, 62, was investigated earlier in November when an 18-year-old woman came forward and said that Sturgell had sexually assaulted her over a six-year period.

The unidentified woman told officials that she was sexually assaulted beginning when she was 14.
