Loaded Guns, Drugs, Cash Discovered During Athens County Traffic Stop

Charges are pending for a man stopped in an Athens County wildlife area on Sept. 21.

A 60-year-old man was stopped in a 2004 GMC Sierra C1500 off Hunterdon Road by an Athens County deputy and an Ohio Department of Natural Resources wildlife officer.

The deputy’s canine officer prompted a search of the vehicle, in which two loaded firearms, prescription medications, $5,700 cash and multiple bags of marijuana were found.

Charges are pending lab results, according to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.
