After months of care, the last of the McGee sextuplets have been discharged from the Ohio State University Medical Center.

The six babies -- Rozonno Jr., Josiah, Isaac, Madison, Olivia and Elijah -- grabbed headlines when they were born in June, 10TV's Tracy Townsend reported.

Before leaving on Thursday, a medical team of more than 50 people joined Mia McGhee and her children for a special goodbye party.

"I know the McGhees and I spoke of this day a long time ago," said Dr. Dave Colombo.  "I don't know if they believed it would actually happen."

At the time of their births, the babies weighed a combined 9 1/2 pounds.  Mia McGhee said her babies are plumping up, now ranging in weight from five to seven pounds.

"It's almost like that chapter is closed we're opening a new one," she said.  "I'm happy I'm finally a mother.  Like I said, last year we were mourning the loss of our twin boys, and now I have I have six."

Elijah, the baby who struggled the most after being born, was the last to be discharged on Thursday.

"He can breathe on his own," McGhee said.  "Just want to make he's ready because he had a lot of scar tissue."

McGhee said that her family grew close to the hospital staff after enduring weeks of critical care.

"We were here 10 weeks, then three months after they were born," she said. "Yeah, I feel like it's a big family."
