Marion authorities arrested a man accused of trafficking heroin and prescription pills into their community.

Marion Police said METRICH officers made contact with Demitrius L. Clanton, 25, and asked for a county K9 to assist.

Deputy Christy Utley and her K9, Kilo, arrived on scene around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Kilo discovered 580 bindles of heroin and 210 Percocet pills inside a book bag. The drugs were estimated to cost $18,000 on the streets.

Clanton, from Detroit, Michigan, was arrested for two felony trafficking drug charges.

"This shows that we will use all of the tools we have available, including K-9 Kilo to stop the flow of heroin into this community." Said Marion Police Major Bill Collins.
