Judge: Teacher Should Not Have Lost License For Restraining Child
An appeals judge said that a preschool teacher for children who have special needs should not have lost her teaching license for restraining a four-year-old student.
The Board of Education permanently revoked Sherry Orth's teaching license after a 2009 incident at Valley Forge Elementary.
The Board said that she injured the child while attempting to restrain him and did not administer first aid right away. She failed to report the incident for two days.
The judge ruled the injuries were accidental and that the teacher acted appropriately. The case will now be appealed to the Supreme Court of sent back to the Board of Education.
