Detectives with Heath’s police and fire departments said on Monday that four fires reported since last week are being considered suspicious.

According to investigators, the fires have been reported at the Heathwood Village Apartments on Patridge Road since Friday.

Detectives said that the fires were all set in the basement stairwells of a number of units at the apartment complex.

The complex manager said that the fires were quickly extinguished.

Tenants said that they hope authorities quickly catch the person – or people -- behind the fires.

“”I think they’re crazy, and I think they need help,” said resident Lisa Ware. “They need to stop, because they don’t realize what they could do and the damage they could cause, let alone killing somebody with one of these fires. It’s just scary.”

Detectives said that they were speaking with one witness who said he saw a group of juveniles running from the area after one of the fires was set.

Investigators said that they had no motive or suspects.
