Thousands of dollars may have been stolen from a Delaware County soccer league.

Detectives with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a theft from the Big Walnut Soccer Association in Sunbury.

The president of the league’s board reported the possible theft to authorities last month after he discovered money was missing from the organization’s bank account. Todd Yarrington said he contacted legal counsel and a CPA with experience working with 501 (C) (3) groups.

BWSA Board President Todd Yarrington said, “A lot of people put a lot of care and volunteer time into this organization. It has been a very stable, productive organization for over 22 years. I’ve been a part of the board for 15 years. The greatest thing I feel is sadness.”

Yarrington told 10TV the suspect no longer has access to the group's bank accounts.

Yarrington said roughly 500 children participate in the recreational soccer league. The league is funded through memberships and sponsorships.

No one has been arrested or charged in this case.
