Both directions of I-270 reopen after truck strikes bridge in south Columbus

All lanes of I-270 have reopened after a dump truck struck the Lockbourne Road Bridge over I-270. Monday afternoon.

The crash happened on I-270 eastbound just past US 23.

Both directions of the interstate were closed after the truck also knocked down utility lines.

The driver was taken to Grant Medical Center in stable condition.

Crews had both directions closed to remove the cables.

Eastbound lanes were reopened around 3 p.m. with westbound open just after 4 p.m.

Even though the dump bed of the truck struck the bridge, ODOT has determined that the bridge is safe enough to open it to traffic.
