The Capital Area Humane Society is urging pet owners to bring their pets indoors because of weather conditions and temperatures.

Central Ohio is under a wind chill advisory and winter weather advisory.

People who know of a pet that is left outside without access to shelter, food and water should call the Humane Society's Cruelty Investigations Department and report it.

Humane agents need an exact address where the animal is located.

The Humane Society says it cannot force someone who is in compliance with the law to bring an animal inside.

Pets left outside should have adequate shelter. Straw helps keep the animal warm. They should have access to food and water.

The number to the Cruelty Investigations Department is 614-777-7387 ext. 250.
