Hilliard Police will warn residents on Thursday about a string of home burglaries near city lines in Northwest Columbus.
Robin Manos and her family never expected to be the victims of a burglary.
"You don't ever think it's going to be you," Manos said.
Burglars broke into their home near Dublin Road on Tuesday. Manos said the culprits stole at least $7,000 worth of items.
The burglars stole jewelry, a laptop and electronics, but also their children's piggy bank savings.
"They took the kids' stuff," she said.
Manos got emotional thinking about how far the burglars went when they stole from her two children. Each jar held about $300.
"That's the part that probably made me the angriest and saddest," Manos said. "Why would you go in a child's room?"
Police said the burglars left fingerprints on the piggy banks. They collected the prints for evidence and will run it through their fingerprint system.
