Helicopter Crashes In Delaware County, Two Seriously Injured

Authorities continue to investigate a helicopter crash in Delaware County on Thursday in Thompson Township.

The crash occurred around 12:45 p.m. south of Richwood, near Welch and Neel roads. The chopper came down in a field, east of County Road 185.

Authorities say two adult males were in the privately-owned 2006 Rotorway International, EXEC 162F Helicopter at the time of the crash.

The pair suffered serious injuries but were conscious following the fiery crash.  They were transported to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center via medical helicopter. Their injuries are not life threatening.

The victims have been identified as 81-year-old Henry Brecher of Columbus and 50-year-old Todd Cramer of Dublin.

The crash sparked a field fire that spanned 10 acres and had to be put out by local fire departments.

The helicopter was destroyed in the crash and fire.

Ohio Highway Patrol is on the scene investigating. The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, Union County Sheriff’s Office, and Radnor Fire Department assisted at the scene. The Federal Aviation Administration is also investigating the crash.
