Handicapped Man, Wife Recovering After Dog Attack

Claude and Deborah Holloway are recovering after police say they were bitten by two pit bulls in their neighborhood.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. Friday near Lilley Avenue and East Rich Street.

The Holloways say they were on their way to the store when the dogs broke through a fence in the 1500 block of East Rich Street.

"The gate swung open and the two dogs just ran out the gate and they were attacking anything they saw," said Claude Holloway.

He says he and his wife were then brutally attacked by two pit bulls. He says one dog knocked him to the ground and bit him in the hand and the other latched on to his wife's upper thigh.

"I took off running because I panicked," said Deborah Holloway. "All I wanted to do was get to my house to get them off my husband," she said.

A neighbor called 911 and police shot and killed both dogs. The Holloways were taken to a hospital, treated and released.

Investigators designated both dogs as vicious and say their owner did not live on the property where the dogs were at the time of the attack.

The owner faces charges, including failure to control and failure to vaccinate.
