Granville police said they were on scene of an assault that prompted the lockdown on Granville Elementary School on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Granville Exempted Village Schools officials, the building, located on North Granger Street, was under a Level 1 lockdown, which mean all doors are locked but students are allowed to move about the building.

Police said that the assault involved two adults. The school was placed on lockdown because one of the adults fled the area.
