Grandma, Grandchild Escape Home Intentionally Set On Fire

Firefighters and arson dogs were called to a house fire in northeast Columbus early Thursday morning.

Fire officials said the fire started at a home on Somersworth Drive, just off of Sunbury Road, around 5:00 a.m.

Investigators have labeled the fire as arson.

Firefighters said they found three separate fires around the home.  Two of those fires were set at the front and back doors of the home. 

Investigators say the person who set those fires was likely trying to keep people inside from escaping.  The third fire was in a car that was parked in the garage.

A young girl and her grandmother were able to escape their home without any injuries.  So far investigators have not named any suspects or a motive.
