Gov. Kasich Appoints Former State Lawmaker As Ohio's Next Higher Ed Leader
Gov. John Kasich has tapped a former state lawmaker to be the next higher education chief in Ohio.
The governor appointed John Carey as chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents.
He will oversee one of the largest higher education networks in the country, pending approval by the Ohio Senate.
The Ohio University graduate previously served nine years in the Ohio House and eight years in the Senate after working as mayor in Wellston.
Carey replaces Jim Petro, who retired in February.
