Getting Your Workout In At Work
Have you ever been stuck at work and can't get to the gym or sitting at your desk all day and can't shake that sedentary feeling?
Here's some advice from 10TV's Jeff Hogan. He recently spoke with the New Albany Police Department radio room. Their dispatchers can't leave their posts at any time during their shifts, so they are getting a tread desk. This is a treadmill that's attached to your desk so you can keep moving while working if you'd like.
Employees say they're ready to feel better and be part of a healthier environment.
A trainer at the Powell YMCA says that's just one of many ways to stay fit in your work space.
Michelle Cannell says, "Don't take an elevator if you have many floors to your building. Wear a pedometer and literally keep track of how many steps you're taking per day. And keep trying to increase that."
You can also do chair squats at your desk and if you have some room, push the chair out of the way and do desk pushups. Also, walking around your building when you have a break is a great way to get out and get moving.
