Former Ohio State University President Gee Heading To West Virginia
Gordon Gee, the former president of the Ohio State University, will be serving as interim president at West Virginia University.
West Virginia officials say Gee's selection was unanimously approved by the school's Board of Governors on Thursday.
Gee will take an unpaid leave of absence from Ohio State. He will continue his commitment to lead and complete his work for Gov. John Kasich’s Quality and Value Initiative.
Gee, 69, left OSU after a series of verbal gaffes including jabbing Roman Catholics and the academic integrity of Southeastern Conference schools.
At WVU he is replacing Jim Clements, who announced in November he would leave the presidency at the end of the year.
