Firefighters Battle Flames At East Columbus Apartment


Firefighters were battling flames at an apartment building in east Columbus.

The fire started around 4:15 a.m. Friday on Courtside Drive, near Petzinger Road.

Firefighters had to search the entire building to look for anyone who might still be inside.

Battalion Chief Patrick Ferguson said six units were affected by the fire. Chief Ferguson added that four people had to be rescued from back upper units. No one inside the apartment was injured in the fire.

Chief Ferguson said one Columbus Police Officer received treatment from inhaled smoke.

Firefighters said the fire started in the lower unit of the building.
