Firefighter Hospitalized With Minor Injuries After Battling Fires At Neighboring Vacant Homes


Firefighters extinguished a fire at one vacant home on the southwest side early Tuesday only to return a short time later to find the home next door on fire.

Firefighters arrived on scene of the first fire at 39 N. Princeton Ave. shortly before 2 a.m.

Arson investigators were called to the scene.

Mikael C. Taylor was taken into custody and charged with arson.

The second home suffered minor damage.

One of the firefighters battling flames at the second home was hospitalized after getting insulation in his eye. He was released after treatment.
