Fire Crews Rescue 2 Men From Big Walnut Creek On Southeast Side

Fire officials launched a water rescue after two men fell out of their fishing raft in southeast Columbus on Wednesday morning.

According to officials, the men were tossed into the Big Walnut Creek near Noe Bixby and Refugee roads shortly before noon.

Fire officials launched boats after a report of a man in the water.

The first individual was rescued shortly after noon. The man told authorities that there could be another victim, who he was fishing with, in the water. 

Authorities rescued the second man at about 12:30 p.m.

Franklin County officials asked 10TV's Chopper 10 to assist in locating the second person in the water.

The two men were identified as Robert Simons and Marion Tyler.
