Father Pleads For Public's Help After S.R. 315 Accident
A family is speaking out after they say a 19-year-old woman was run off the road.
Dimare Saa is in the Intensive Care Unit at OSU Wexner Medical Center in critical condition, according to her family.
"She knows what she wants out of life. She had her plans from day one. She's the kind of person that you tell her she cant do it she's the one that will get it done," said Dimare's father, Sam Saa.
Saa said his daughter will have to use that same determination to recover from a horrific accident on State Route 315 on Thursday.
"The doctor said she will be in a wheelchair for at least a year or year and a half if she recovers at all. If not, she will be in a wheelchair the rest of her life," Saa told 10TV's Jason Frazer.
Dimare, according to her father, was en route to work when she swerved to avoid hitting an SUV near the Bethel Road exit.
"Her car tumbled three or four times and landed in some trees and sustained severe damaged. Her car was totaled," said Saa.
Sharon Township Police said the SUV driver continued on.
"She was pinned underneath the steering wheel of the car so they had to cut the steering wheel off and the roof the car to get her out," said Saa.
The 19-year-old suffered neck and back injuries. Saa said he can never forget the call he got from OSU officials.
"I just couldn't hold my knees. You do what every father or family member would naturally do you just break down and start praying," said Saa.
As Dimare takes the slow road to recovery, her father hopes his public plea will encourage other drivers to come forward to identify the fleeing driver
"She's 19 years old and I would hate for her to be in this condition and somebody that just caused it just gets away free," said Saa.
Saa believes the suspect was driving a black SUV.
