Police said that a young boy still hospitalized after a rollover crash last week may not have been properly restrained at the time of the crash.
It has been nearly a week since the crash on Columbus’ far west side sent 7-year-old Jorden Lee Cooper to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in critical condition. The crash occurred along Hall Road on Jan. 25.
Jeffery Cooper, Jorden’s father, said that his son was not doing well.
“He keeps going up and down,” Cooper said.
The father said that doctors have said they are surprised that the young boy keeps hanging on.
“He’s a really strong boy,” Cooper said. “He’s still fighting and you know, we’re just hoping for the best right now – taking it day by day.”
Cooper said that he and his family a have been at Nationwide Children’s Hospital every day since the crash, hoping and praying that Jorden will pull through.
“We do appreciate the prayers and everything,” Cooper said. “That’s been helping us a lot. The only hope we’ve been having is in God right now.”
Police said that no charges have been filed in connection with the single-vehicle crash.
