One person was shot and killed early Saturday morning in the 1300 block of Beechwood Road in east Columbus.

Detectives on the scene told 10TV a security guard and two other people got into a confrontation near an after-hours club around 4:00 a.m.

Police say the security guard shot the man inside a vehicle.

Police say 23-year-old Paul Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second gun was found beside the victim, but it’s unclear if the victim threatened to fire it.

The woman inside the car at the time was not injured.

A witness who lives across the street recounted what she heard.  "I hear boom, boom, boom, boom, boom five big shots, it sounded like a canon," said Doris Byrd.

The shooting happened right in front of Byrd's home. She says the violent activity connected to the after-hours club has escalated to the point where she lives in fear.

"I can't sit in my living room after 9:00 at night because I don't know if gun shots are going to come through here," she said.

The owner of the club had no comment for 10TV. Byrd said she's working with neighbors and city leaders to find a solution. She said she plans to step up her block watch efforts.
