Family Who Found Packages For Soldiers In Trash Spruces Them Up, Plans To Ship Them

A woman plans to send 33 discarded packages left in the trash to the people they were meant to go to.

Lisa Marksberry’s mother found the packages discarded in the trash on Wednesday.

The presents, made by second-graders at Liberty Christian Academy, ended up in a Dumpster at the Hickory Mill Apartments, off of Roberts Road in Hilliard.

No one knows how the presents ended up in the Dumpster.

Marksberry fixed the packages up with new bows and candy canes on Thursday.

“I have had my moments today, where I’m in shock that someone could stoop this low,” Marksberry said. “As long as they get back to where they belong, that’s all that matters to me.”

Marksberry said that she was in touch with National Guard officials, who plan to help her ship the boxes of gifts to the soldiers as early as Friday.
